Tripathi seeks action for ‘faulty’ job policy

Former Minister and senior Congress leader KN Tripahti while slamming the Government for going ahead with discriminatory employment policy has demanded action against the officials responsible. Amended recently by the Cabinet the policy allowed ‘outsiders’ class III and IV jobs in 11 districts out of 24 in Jharkhand.

Addressing a press conference on Friday, the leader also demanded extending tenure of the reservation for 25 years for the locals. “The policy came into existence in 2016 and so many recruitments have taken place since then. Now the Government under our pressure and protests taking place all over decided to backtrack and replace it with a new policy expending reservation all over the State uniformly. This is not sufficient. Action should be initiated against the officials who had drafted this faulty policy costing dearly to the youths of the State,” said Tripathi.

Following the protests even coming from inside the Government and ruling BJP the Government had formulated a committee in the leadership of Minister Amar Kumar Bauri and several MLAs. The panel after studying policies of several other States had made recommendations. Later, the Cabinet only last week accepted the recommendation about reserving all jobs falling into class III and IV for domiciles of Jharkhand only.

“Damage has been done during this. Who is going to pay for it? Youths of Palamu, Garhwa and other unscheduled areas have suffered a lot. Also, we demand that the provision should be capped for 25 years and not just 10 years which has been done at present. Why the same question should come up again after 10 years,” asked the former Daltonganj MLA.

The leader had been instrumental in organising marches and protests spreading in 11 districts where the policy to block outsiders was not in place. Later, the issues caught attention of the Government and gathered widespread support.
