Teachers decry delay in disbursal of loans

They plan to hold protests at treasuries

Teachers and employees all over Andhra Pradesh will stage protests at the district treasuries on May 14 to demand payment of PF loans to employees and pensions.

Addressing a media conference here on Saturday, AP United Teacher’s Federation (AP UTF) district general secretary YARK Prasad and district president K.K. Jajulu said the protests, to be organised in response to the call given by the State unit, were meant to express the resentment of employees and retired persons for undue delay in release of PF loans and pensions.

Employees and teachers, who had applied for PF loans to meet the expenses of the marriage of children, house construction and medical expenses in February this year, were not paid the same in the name of ‘freezing’ of payments though the loans were already sanctioned.

They said thousands of employees and teachers in the State were agitating on the issue since March. The loans pending payment in Visakhapatnam district were to the tune of ₹4.57 crore as against ₹150.77 crore for the entire State.

They also alleged that the salaries of teachers of high schools in Dumbriguda and S. Rayavaram mandals in the district were not paid due to ‘technical issues’. They said that the AP Comprehensive Financial Management System (CFMS) system for payment of salaries, introduced for payment of salaries, was causing problems to employees and teachers.

They demanded immediate rectification of problems with the new system and immediate payment of salaries.

District Audit Committee convener S.K. Swamy and district executive member M. Krishna were present.
