Patients shifted to another ward as ESIS hospital celebrates Nurses Day

Nagpur: The Employees State Insurance Scheme (ESIS) hospital celebrated the Nurses Day on Saturday but due to the celebrations, the hospital staff put some of its admitted patients to a lot of inconvenience.
The hospital, located at Krida Chowk Somwaripeth, vacated ward number 2 by shifting patients to another ward because there was no comfortable space with coolers for holding the programme. But this angered the patients and their relatives. “They want to see their comfort. But there is no doctor in our ward. A death too occurred in the hospital today. But the administration was busy celebrating the Nurses Day,” said an aggrieved patient.

ESIS hospital medical superintendent Dr Meena Deshmukh didn’t see anything wrong in vacating the ward. “The patients are being taken care of by junior nurses. The doctor had taken a round of the wards and given medicines. Only then everyone went for the programme. And the death of a patient has nothing to do with this. The patient went into respiratory arrest immediately after reaching the hospital. She was a known hypertensive and diabetic. The family too has no complaints,” she said.
