M’bhanj office-bearers quit Nesco Union

Most of the Nesco Power Employees’ Union’s office-bearers from Mayurbhanj district resigned from the organisation on Friday in protest against the “unacceptable style of functioning” of union general secretary Tarakanta Patnaik.

In a meeting held here under the chairmanship of the union’s Mayurbhanj unit adviser Subramaniam Mohanty, the decision to quit was taken unanimously. Those who attended the meeting and afterwards resigned from the union included Nrusingha Charan Panda, Jyotikrushna Behera, Brajendranath Barik, Diptikanta Bhuyan, Karunakar Pati, Karunakar Lenka, Aswini Panda, Upendra Nath Barik, Bisweswar Khilar and Manas Ranjan Sukla.

The development is likely to weaken the union, which had otherwise been working here so far as a strong forum of the Nesco employees.
