Indore: The rift within local BJP widened on Friday as mayor Malini Gaud, who doesn’t get along well with national BJP general secretary Kailash Vijayvargiya’s camp, avoided attending bhumi pujan of development programme organised in Indore assembly constituency 2.
“The Mayor did not come for bhumi pujan and inaugural functions of development projects worth Rs 10 crore in assembly constituency 2,” said a senior BJP leader wishing anonymity. The leader also said that she was furious when told that Indore assembly constituency 2 leaders did not mention her name in the plaques installed at foundation laying ceremony.
Finance and district minister in-charge Jayant Malaiya is in the city for past three days. He has been performing bhumi pujan of developments works in different assembly constituencies where the mayor accompanied the minister. The Vijayvargiya camp is unhappy with the Mayor after BJP corporator Sapna Chouhan’s supporter slapped additional municipal commissioner Rohan Saxena a year back. The corporator was jailed in the case. The MiC members from Vijayvargiya camp did not show up at IMC since then.
City BJP president Kailash Sharma said BJP is a big party and dispute may occur. “Senior party leaders and I have been trying to resolve those disputes,” he added.
