The University of Akron's Abigale Wilson (Carrollton) unleashed a career-best throw of 52-6 (16.00m), the second-best mark in outdoor program history, to place second in the women's shot put at the Mid-American Conference Outdoor Track and Field Championships at Buffalo.

Adding a team point placing eighth with a mark of 46-3.75 was junior Olivia Snyder (Fairless).

* The Malone University baseball team saw its Great Midwest Athletic Conference (G-MAC) Championship run come to end on Friday after suffering losses to Hillsdale College and Kentucky Wesleyan College on day three of the double-elimination tournament.
 
In a winner's bracket matchup between the two remaining tournament unbeatens on Friday afternoon, the Pioneers fell in game one to Hillsdale 11-6. Then facing elimination, Malone lost to defending Champion Kentucky Wesleyan 13-4 in Friday's nightcap.

* Coby Eckstein (Indian Valley) had an RBI single and added another RBI when he was hit by a pitch to help lead West Liberty to a 9-0 win against Concord in the first round of the Mountain East Conference baseball tournament at Linda K. Epling Stadium Thursday night.

Coach Eric Burkle's Hilltoppers (21-26) played Charleston (31-20) in a 7 p.m. winners' bracket contest. Friday night.
