Verification of land records would be taken up before initiating any action in the case of Baba Mutt land located at Pathar Cheapa on the outskirts of the town, said Balangir DFO Sameer Kumar Satpathy.

According to reports, following complaints of functioning of illegal brick kiln and destruction of forest, DFO Sameer Satpathy along with Balangir Range officer Vijaya Khuntia and other staff on Tuesday visited the site.

According to sources, during inquiry, it was found that the Baba of the mutt has got a land around 4 acres, 16years ago. The records, shown to forest officials, mention it as ATT land.

How the place located inside open forest and surrounded by mountains could be Att land, wondered forest officials.

During the visit, the remains of a brick kiln were found. However, no area of reserve forest was damaged, said the officials.

“We will take a joint verification of the land allotted to the mutt of the Baba around 16 years ago and after ascertaining the actual position, appropriate action will be taken person,” said DFO Sameer Satpathy.
