Indore : Celebrating their choice of becoming a nurse, nurses came together and organised functions including theme parties at local hospitals on Saturday to mark International Nurses Day.
At a hospital located at Vijay Nagar, nurses presented cultural programmes that projected diversity of Indian culture.
Amazed by their artistic talent, doctors and administrative staff appreciated their efforts and recognised their work in medical sciences. Quoting importance of nurses, Dr Deepali Mittal said, “Doctors operate a patient, it is nurses who help a patient to recover, which is much longer and tedious procedure.”
After their performance, nurses Yasmin Khan and Abhishek Astholia shared their experience with Free Press. “Becoming a nurse changes your life for better as one dedicates his/her life caring for patients,” Yasmin said.
She added that giving care makes them feel positive. “I feel privileged to have been given a chance to perform for nurses who are caring as they save lives every day,” Abhishek said. He finds dance to be best stress buster.
Nurse Priya Chourasia performed on a fusion of songs. “I love dancing since my childhood, dance brings a smile to everyone’s face,” she said.
She feels happy to be recognised for her work. “It feels good to be appreciated,” Priya said.
Talking about her love for dance, nurse Elseba Abraham said, “I have always been fond of dancing, it is my hobby.” Her performance won applause.
“I always wanted to live a simple life, where I can manage my moral duties, finances and interest. Nursing is perfect for me,” Elseba said.
The programme’s highlight was group dance presented by nurses Tincy, Rosini, Priya, Elseba and Ambika.
Nurse Naresh Shringi said, “As nurse, we learn many important lessons about life. It helps us to evolve spiritually. Every day, we see people struggle to live. So, we understand the importance of celebrating life better (than others).”
