Jacksboro rebounds to best Clyde in Game 3
ABILENE – Jacksboro regrouped quickly Saturday after Clyde handed the Tigers an 11-0 loss in Game 2 of a Region I-3A area-round series.
A Tyler Harmonson single up the middle of the infield scored Caleb Nunley with one out in the bottom of the seventh, delivering a 7-6 victory for the Tigers in Game 3. Jacksboro advances to the Region I-3A quarterfinals and a matchup with Peaster with details still pending.
The Tigers fell down 6-1 after four innings in Game 3, but got within striking distance with a three-run rally in the fifth. Lathan Lowrance hit a key two-run single with two outs in the inning.
Jacksboro tied it at 6-6 in the sixth when Luke Dixon and Fudge scored on a Clyde error.
Caleb Nunley got the seventh-inning rally started with a one-out walk. Jacob Hull joined Nunley on base via error, putting the winning run on second.
Hamonson's game-winning single came on a 3-1 count with Nunley coming home from second base.
Clay Botello claimed the win on the mound, coming on in relief in the fifth inning and throwing three shutout innings. Botello gave up one hit and a walk with four strikeouts.
Stephenville pushes IP to Game 3
ABILENE – An early outburst kept the Stephenville Yellow Jackets' season alive Saturday as a four-run first inning supplied just enough offense to knock off Iowa Park, 4-3, in Game 2 of a Region I-4A area-round series. A third game was played Saturday night, but hadn't started by press time.
The Yellow Jackets scored four runs on five hits, including two doubles, and an error in the first inning. They had just eight hits against Iowa Park starter Derek Hostas for the game.
The Hawks answered with two runs in the top of the second and added a third in the top of the sixth, but couldn't find the equalizer.
Noah Diaz was 3 for 3 with a double and a run at the plate for Iowa Park. Kase Johnson was 2 for 4.

Kennedale’s Hackett shuts down Vernon
GRAHAM – Kennedale pitcher Bryce Hackett kept Vernon's bats in check after a rough first inning, keeping the Lions from scoring in the final six innings in a 7-2 victory Saturday in Game 2 of a Region I-4A area-round series. Vernon finishes the season at 14-13-1.
The Lions were held to four hits, recording three in the first inning. Jacob Trufan led the game off with a triple and scored on an error. Tyler Reeves scored Vernon's only other run on a single by Chad Thomas.
Kennedale tied the game in the third and took the lead for good in the fourth. Hackett had 11 strikeouts, while earning the win on the mound.
Rayburn eliminates Windthorst
PONDER – Sam Rayburn pounded Windthorst, 13-1, winning the third and decisive game of a Region II-2A area-round series and ended Windthorst's season.
Rayburn pitcher Moses Trujillo held Windthorst to a single hit. Colton Bates was responsible for it and came around to score the Trojans' lone run.
Windthorst finished with a record of 24-9-1.
