With help from back-to-back home runs by Vinny Capra and Kyle Adams in the third inning, Richmond defeated La Salle 8-6 at Pitt Field on Saturday.
Richmond pitcher Aaron Winkler recorded his third win, going five innings and and giving up two runs and two talks while striking out five.
The Spiders led 6-0 after the fourth inning against the Explorers, who then scored six runs of their own in the fifth through seventh innings. Richmond added an insurance run in the sixth inning and also in the eighth.
Adams and Capra had two RBIs each. Tyler Plantier had a solo homer in the sixth.

VCU 6, George Washington 2: Scoreless through the third inning and tied 2-2 after the fifth, the visiting Rams defeated the Colonials by scoring one run in the sixth and three in the seventh.
In the top of the sixth inning, VCU’s Hogan Brown knocked in a run to put the Rams up 3-2. In the top of the seventh, Mitchel Lacey hit a two-run homer to push the Rams’ lead to 5-2. Zac Ching grounded into a fielder’s choice double play, but Steven Carpenter (New Kent) scored on the play for the Rams’ final run.

Miami 16, Virginia Tech 4: Outfielder Tony Jenkins posted four RBIs off two home runs for the visiting Hurricanes against the Hokies.
Jenkins wasted no time, hitting his homers in the first and second innings, giving Miami a 7-3 lead after two. The Hurricanes recorded two more runs in the fourth.
Virginia Tech’s J.D. Mundy homered to left center in the bottom of the fifth to draw the Hokies to 9-4. But it wasn’t enough to stop the Hurricanes as they tallied an additional seven runs to clinch the victory.
Sam Fragale, Nick Menken and Michael Fernandez had RBIs for Tech.

Georgia Tech 5, Virginia 1: The Yellow Jackets stung the Cavaliers as starter Connor Thomas pitched a complete game. Thomas recorded seven strikeouts and allowed no earned runs on six hits and no walks.
Georgia Tech took an early lead scoring two runs in the third inning and one in the fifth, and then added a run in the eighth.
Virginia managed to put up one unearned run in the seventh when Cameron Comer scored off Tanner Morris’ single to left center.
