The Oscar winner face-planted the ground just moments after an interview at the 71st Cannes Film Festival.
The 72-year-old left her shoe behind following a shocking fall on Martinez Beach, after earlier cutting a very chic figure in an eye-catching outfit.
Dame Helen was seen laying on the wooden decking with just one patterned flat remaining on her foot after chatting about her presence at the annual event with a camera crew.
The actress found herself immediately surrounded by companions, who soon helped her get back on her feet.
The film star also appeared to drop her phone in all the commotion, which was left strewn next to her.
Dame Helen looked shocked as she regained her composure after shooting out on a jetty with a camera crew.
Wearing her tresses down, the British beauty looked much younger than her years in her purple trench, which featured a super shiny finish.
She toned down her bold jacket with white, wide-legged dungarees and monochrome shoes, complete with colourful tassels.
Proving she is quite the professional, Dame Helen soon got on with the task in hand as she shot on the sand.
It is not the first time Dame Helen has suffered a fall at a red carpet event, as she also accidentally fell at the premiere for The Unknown Girl in 2016.

The year before, she lost her footing at a screening for Woman In Gold as part of the 65th Berlinale International Film Festival.
She could hardly complain about the presence of intimate scenes in movies, as she has fearlessly faced the camera nude more than once in the likes of Age Of Consent and Calendar Girls.
Dame Helen blasted the modern perils facing any star stripping off on screen, saying the internet has changed everything.
"There used to be an understanding of privacy. There is no understanding of privacy now. Privacy is completely gone,” she claimed.

Dame Helen continued in a chat with i news: “Random people taking photos, emails being hacked, people doing screen grabs…
“It used to be if you did a nude scene, for example, closed set, no photography. Now they [take] a screenshot from the movie and put it on the internet for everybody to see.”
Her slip-up comes just hours after Victoria Silvstedt flashed her pert derriere by mistake in a major wardrobe malfunction at Cannes 2018.
The 43-year-old was spotted arriving at the Eden Roc Hotel in the French resort by boat yesterday.
But, as she stepped off the vessel, the Swedish model's dress was blown out of place, revealing her behind to photographers.
