Woman’s body found stuffed in gunny bag in Mumbai

The body of an unidentified woman was found stuffed in a gunny bag in a building at Shivaji Nagar in Govandi on Friday.

The victim is around 35 to 40 years of age, police said.

The body was stuffed in a gunny bag and kept in a drum at a passage on the ground floor of a building at Parekh compound.

Police suspect that the woman may have been killed elsewhere and the accused must have dumped the body to prevent being tracked down.

A case has been registered against the unidentified persons under section 302 of the IPC for murder.

The police are going through the list of missing persons and are trying to identify eye witnesses who may have seen suspicious movements.

Police are scanning CCTV footage and trying to determine if she was sexually assaulted.

The crime branch has also started its parallel investigation in the case.
