NSB commissioner receives award
The City of New Smyrna Beach Commissioner Judy Reiker was recognized by the Florida League of Cities with a 2018 Home Rule Hero Award. Commissioner Reiker earned this prestigious award for her tireless efforts to advance the League’s legislative agenda and help protect the Home Rule powers of Florida’s cities during the 2018 legislative session. Commissioner Reiker’s efforts, including two trips to Tallahassee on behalf of the citizens of New Smyrna Beach to meet face-to-face with state representatives, were part of a larger effort for cities to maintain local control, otherwise known as home rule.
Happy Wanderers 6k and 11k walks

Author and columnist to speak
Kathy Kelly, a columnist for the Daytona Beach News-Journal, will discuss her new book, “I Would Find a Girl Walking,” at 2 p.m. Monday, May 14, at the Ormond Beach Regional Library, 30 S. Adult programs on tap at NSB library
Adults can learn new skills and make new friends with free programs at the New Smyrna Beach Regional Library, 1001 S. Dixie Freeway.
11 a.m. Monday, May 14; The Seasonal Eats Food Club will focus on Asian cuisine during its gathering. Participants are asked to share a recipe and bring an appetizer or main dish.
10 a.m. Wednesday, May 16; Bring your knitting or crochet project to the Stitch in Time Club. A skilled knitter will be available to provide assistance. Bring your own supplies.
2-4 p.m. Thursday, May 31; Create a beginner's floral design with paper quilling. Registration is required only for those who do not bring their own quilling tool.

Mother's Day pancake breakfast
