Jim Clark is new AD as NDCL reorganizes athletic department

Notre Dame-Cathedral Latin has announced a new athletic department leadership team, headed by the school’s new athletic director Jim Clark.

Clark has been NDCL’s interim athletic director since longtime AD Frank Platzar died this past fall.

In announcing the reorganization of the athletic department, NDCL principal Joseph A. Waler named Randy Thomas as associate athletic director, Andrew Mooney as assistant AD and Paulette Welch as sports information coordinator and administrative assistant.

Thomas and Welch joined the NDCL staff in October on an interim basis to assist Clark after Platzar became ill.

Clark will remain as NDCL’s head baseball coach, while Mooney will remain as the school’s head football coach.

At the head of it all is Clark, an athletic administrator at the school since 2000. He will lead an athletic department that includes 16 sports for boys and girls.

“Our search committee thoroughly considered more than 50 candidates for the athletic director’s position,” Waler said. “In the end it became crystal clear that Jim Clark was the best person for the job. His professional expertise, widely respected reputation in the athletic community, highly successful coaching record, and time-tested commitment to our student-athletes and their coaches will enable Jim to take our athletic program to the next level.”

Clark said it is an honor to serve the students of NDCL and the community.

“I look forward to all the great things ahead of us and am confident our athletic program is poised for even greater success,” he said.
