VINITA, Okla. (AP) - A 16-year-old Oklahoma boy has pleaded guilty to first-degree murder in the fatal shooting of his father's fiancé and was sentenced to 25 years in prison. Koalten Glenn Orr, who was charged and convicted as an adult, was sentenced to life with the chance for parole, with all but the first 25 years suspended, after entering the plea Friday in Craig County District Court in Vinita. He apologized to Hendrix's family "for everything" following the sentencing.
OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) - Oklahoma's Republican Governor Mary Fallin has managed to anger gun and gay rights groups on the same day. She vetoed a bill that would have allowed adults to carry handguns without a permit and signed another that permits religious organizations to exclude same sex couples from adoptions. The NRA blasted her for the gun veto and an LGBT group said it would sue the state over the adoption law.

The bill signed late Friday gives legal protections to faith-based adoption agencies that won't place children in LGBT homes because of religious or moral convictions or policies.

Mary Fallin vetoed a bill late Friday that would have authorized adults to carry firearms without a permit or training, dealing a rare defeat to the National Rifle Association in a conservative state. The veto comes after opposition from the business community and law enforcement authorities, including top officials with the Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation who have said it could erode public safety.
