BHOPAL : The logjam between the striking employees of Ziqitza Healthcare Limited (ZHL) and management continued on Saturday. Amid the protest by the employees, the company went ahead with its process of appointing new staff to ensure that the emergency 108 ambulance services are not disrupted because of the agitation. Protesting staff continued to strike their work demanding implementation of labour laws. Seeing the protesting staff not budging, the company has recruited 600 employees so far. 108 ambulance services are operated by ZHL in the state capital.
Assuring the protesting employees to settle the issue, the Bharatiya Mazdoor Sangh (BMS) has now intervened asking them to call off the strike.
Earlier, labour Commission had mediated but no permanent solution could come up. The agitating employees are demanding implementation of labour laws and setting up of time scheduled as per the law. Labour commission, in meeting with the two sides had instructed for timely payment to ambulance staffs. Rest of the demands like fixing the duty hours as per labour laws and increment remained unaddressed. Ambulance staff are still on strike and some of them have lost their job.
BMS appeals protesting employees to call off stir strike, assures settlement
Gaurav Sahu, ZHEL in-charge, said, “We have to manage the show. We cannot wait for the striking employees to rejoin their duty. We have appointed 600 employees and we will continue to appoint as per need and requirement according to instruction of top management of the company.”
At least we need a driver and technician in 108 Ambulance to continue operations, the demands of striking staff are pending with the government and till then it is not justified to suspend the ambulance services and so we have no option but to appointed the staff, he added.
