Debt-free agriculture in the State: Jagadish Reddy

Rythu Bandhu cheques distributed in Suryapet

Minister for Energy and SC Development G. Jagadish Reddy on Saturday said Rythu Bandhu, the agriculture investment scheme of the State government was aimed at ensuring debt-free agriculture to farmers.

“Agriculture was badly hit in the last 60 years, which is responsible for the unfortunate situation of farmer suicides in the State. No other State has produced a scheme like Rythu Bandhu in 70 years of independence,” Mr. Reddy said.

Distributing cheques and pattadar passbooks to beneficiary farmers in Pinnayipalem village here, Mr. Reddy maintained that farmers are being provided the best of facilities, including the benefits under Rythu Bandhu scheme to make them feel self-confident.

‘Promises fulfilled’

“₹17,000 crore worth loans were waived and ₹25,000 crore agriculture budget has been brought in the State,” he said, reiterating the performance record. Not only has the government achieved all promises made before the 2014 elections, but is also designing new schemes, inspiring awe from the other States in the country, Mr. Reddy said.

From providing ₹1,00,116 to brides under Kalyana Lakshmi and Shaadi Mubarak schemes, gifting KCR kits and development of caste-based vocations for Kuruma, Yadava, Mudiraj communities under various schemes the government was taking care of all sections of society, the Energy Minister said.

Mr. Reddy informed ₹7.5 crore worth development and welfare programmes were conducted for Pinnayipalem village. Government Whip Palla Rajeshwar Reddy, adding to the list of achievements and performance, said the government has introduced 800 schools in the State. Later observing International Nurses Day, the Minister handed over two-wheelers to a select 50 Auxiliary Nurse-Midwives at his office in the headquarters.
