Hudson Valley Community College graduates accepted their diplomas and certificates Saturday morning. Here's a snapshot of the day:
Venue: McDonough Sports Complex, Troy
Degrees awarded: 2,010 associate degrees and certificates at the 64th commencement. Of these, 453 graduated with academic honors.
Featured speakers: Drew Matonak, HVCC president; Neil Kelleher, HVCC Board of Trustees chairman; Nathanael R. Savasta, Student Senate president; Rensselaer County Executive Steven McLaughlin and Rensselaer County Legislature Chairman Michael Stammel.
Notable: This is Drew Matonak's last commencement as HVCC president.
Graduates from more than 80 career- and transfer-oriented programs range in age from 17 to 67.
More than 270 studied exclusively online.
International graduates were from 37 countries.
The class counted 81 percent of its members from the four-county Capital Region: Albany County, 664; Rensselaer County, 491; Saratoga County, 298; and Schenectady County, 166.
