Promoted jointly by Tamil Nadu Industrial Development Company, this firm has six breaking machines in Erode with an installed capacity of 7,000 tonnes per annum, operating at 70% capacity. Out of the six breaking machines, three will be replaced with big machines and balance refurbished.

“As our production facility in Erode is over 20 years old, we are going to modernise this facility. Some amount will be spent on technology upgradation. New breaking machinery and dryer component will be imported from Italy. Besides, the processing capacity will be upgraded from 16.5 lakh eggs per day to 18 lakh eggs per day,” he said.

SKM Egg recently unveiled egg white cube, a ready-to-eat and ready-to-cook natural egg protein product under SKM Best brand.

“This is product has been developed in-house. It is done with an aim to increase the quality of protein consumption among public. Currently, it is available in Tamil Nadu and Karnataka,” he said.

“We are also studying the West Asia market for export. The product has a shelf life of 21 days and that’s a challenge,” he added.
