GLOVERSVILLE — A 29-year-old man is accused of stabbing another man Friday in what city police described as a "random" and "wholly unprovoked" attack.
Police were sent at 1:25 p.m. to the intersection of North Main Street and Tenth Avenue to investigate reports of a man who had been stabbed. The attack occurred on the Rail Trail, near a Price Chopper supermarket, police said.
Officers arrived to find the suspect — Joshua P. Moore of Gloversville — minimally clothed and refusing to follow their orders, police said. Officers said they were able to subdue Moore and then assess the victim, who suffered a puncture wound to his abdomen.
The victim was treated at the scene by the Gloversville Fire Department and the Ambulance Service of Fulton County, and later taken to Nathan Littauer Hospital, where he is still being treated.
The knife used in the attack was found nearby by a Fulton County Sheriff's dog and deputy.
Moore is charged with felony assault and felony criminal possession of a weapon. He was arraigned in Gloversville City Court and taken to Fulton County Court on $50,000 bail.
