Woman arrested for hiring contract killers to murder son in Patna

Patna police on Friday arrested a woman who, fed up of her son’s lawlessness, hired contract killers and got him murdered him on Monday.

Renu Devi and the three persons, who allegedly carried out her son Mintoo Ram’s (40) killing, have been arrested and a pistol used in the crime has been recovered from them.

On May 7, the Bakhatiyarpur police had recovered Mintoo’s body from behind Akash hotel at Taal area.

Patna SSP, Manu Maharaaj said, “It was a challenge to solve the case as during initial probe we came across evidences that indicated his mother, Renu Devi’s involvement.”

Mintoo’s wife, Anju Devi had lodged a murder case after his body was recovered, and later, when questioned, revealed that he and Renu used to quarrel daily over some issue or the other.

“Police then picked up Renu and interrogated her. Initially, she tried to divert and confuse our men but soon broke down and confessed to her involvement in her son’s murder,” the SSP said.

Renu told the police that she gave Rs 50,000 to contract killers, Dharamveer and Sharvan Kumar, and asked them to eliminate her son.

The duo gunned down Ram and threw his body behind Akash hotel on May 6 night.

Renu plotted the murder as she was fed up of his lawlessness. “He was into eve-teasing, harassing women of the locality and took loans from locals but never paid them back,” police said quoting her.
