IPS officer Himanshu Roy cremated with full state honours

Maharashtra officer Himanshu Roy, who committed suicide this afternoon, was cremated with full state honours here late on Saturday.

A suicide note penned by him, recovered by the police this evening, said that he was tired of battling for over two years and was taking the extreme step, and nobody should be held responsible for it.

His flower bedecked body draped in the national Tricolor was taken in an ambulance from his Nariman Point home to the at Charni Road around 9.30 p.m.

A large number of police personnel, former and serving IPS and IAS officers, besides political leaders, including Ramdas Athawale, were present for Roy's final journey.

Maharashtra and Devendra Fadnavis, besides other ministers, condoled the demise of Roy and recalled his services to the police force in glowing terms.

Ashok Chavan, senior and many other political leaders, have also expressed grief over Roy's tragic demise.

Besides, scores of IPS and IAS officers, lawyers and other officials grieved Roy's sudden death.
