With Mother’s Day around the corner, those who have not yet bought presents have a last opportunity to grab a gift from the artisans’ market in Valletta.
Artisans have set up shop in St George’s Square for the annual Mother’s Day Maltese Artisan Fair, being held until this afternoon. The wares include filigree items, textile works, paintings, beading, woodworks, ceramics and costume jewellery.
Apart from offering products for sale, the artisans are also giving live demonstrations on how their work is done.
These fairs are held regularly throughout the year for the benefit of artisans, especially those who do not have a fixed outlet from where they can sell regularly.
They are organised by the Commerce Department in collaboration with the Malta Tourism Authority, the Grand Harbour Regeneration Committee and the Valletta local council.
Past editions include March’s Easter fair in Valletta and a market in Marsaxlokk during the Malta International Fireworks Festival last month.
