It's so far, so good for Jessica Mauboy at Eurovision.

Key points:

  • A total of 43 countries entered into the competition
  • The contest is being held in Portugal this year
  • The finals will happen Sunday morning Australian time

The 28-year-old singer has earned herself a spot in the final of the iconic Eurovision Song Contest in Portugal with her performance of We Got Love in this morning's semi-final.

Performers from Serbia, Moldova, Hungary, Ukraine, Sweden, Norway, Denmark, Slovenia and The Netherlands also garnered enough votes to make the cut for Sunday's grand final.

Mauboy's fans — or at least those of them not avoiding all Eurovision news until they can watch the telecast on delay — welcomed the news Australia's 2018 Eurovision representative has progressed to the next stage.

Russia, Georgia, Latvia, Malta, Montenegro, Poland, Romania and San Marino will all miss out on the headline show.

Half of the votes were cast by a professional jury and the other half remotely by viewers.

A total of 43 countries have been taking part in the hugely popular annual event, which is in its 63rd year.

It is being held this year in the Portuguese capital Lisbon because the Portuguese contestant, Salvador Sobral, won last year's event in Kiev, Ukraine.
