Petrol pump robbed at gun point

Cash worth ₹1 lakh stolen; police on the lookout for the robber

A masked man allegedly robbed a petrol pump at Kalanthode near Mukkom at gun point and fled the scene after emptying the cash chest containing around ₹1 lakh on Wednesday.

Pump owner A. Aneesha told the police that the man had shown up around 9.30 p.m. when there was no power supply. The robber did not even spare the coins kept in the cash chest, she said.

According to the police, there were only three employees, apart from the owner, at the pump at the time of the incident. They said the workers did not attempt to resist the robbery as the man had threatened to open fire. The robber had masked his face and made only gestures to communicate with the employees, they added.

Fingerprint experts and a dog squad visited the pump on Thursday and gathered evidence. Visuals from CCTV cameras were also collected. The police are on the lookout for the robber.
