Indore: Lok Sabha Speaker Sumitra Mahajan will flag off Haumsafar Express, the Indore-Puri train, on Saturday at 5.30 pm from platform number five. Its regular run will start from May 22. The Indore-Lingampalli (Hyderabad) train will start from May 19.
The direct train service for both the destinations was in demand for a long time. After Duranto, Humsafar Express will be another train to start from the city with 18 coaches. Nagesh Namjoshi, ex-member of Passenger Amenities Committee, said railways issued notification for the train on Thursday.
Namjoshi said that Indore-Puri train will provide direct access to Durg and Raipur. For both the cities, there is no direct train from the city at present. A large number of Hindu pilgrims visit Jagannath temple in Puri every year. They take trains from Ujjain or Bhopal.
3 IT cities get connected
The Indore-Hyderabad train will connect three IT cities – Indore, Pune and Hyderabad. A large number of software engineers from city work in Pune and Hyderabad. At present, they have to board trains from Bhopal or have to travel by bus.
