Two Chennai college students attacked

CHENNAI: Three youths wielding deadly weapons attacked Presidency College students when they were waiting for bus near Ezhilagam on the Kamarajar Salai here on Friday afternoon.
The injured have been identified as Sureshkumar Kasiram, 18, a second year political science student, and Manikandan, 19, a second year B Com student. Sureshkumar is a resident of Tondiarpet while Manikandan is a resident of Manali.

The three youths, who arrived on a two-wheeler around 3.20pm, attacked the duo with sickles and knives. The two students sustained injuries on their neck and hands.

After attacking the duo, the three youths escaped on their two-wheeler. The injured were taken to Government General Hospital. Doctors said the students’ health condition was stable.

Police said the attackers might be college students and a love affair with a girl might be the reason for the attack.

The Anna Square police registered an attempt to murder case and launched a hunt for the suspects.

The police collected footage from CCTV cameras at signals in the area to trace the suspects with the help of the registration number of the two-wheeler.
