Differently-abled association plans protest on May 21

The Tamil Nadu Association for the Rights of All Types of Differently Abled and Caregivers (TARATDAC) has announced a protest on May 21.

S. Namburajan, State general secretary of the association said that among the 12,000 art teachers teaching in government schools across the State, there were 150 teachers with disabilities teaching music, drawing and other arts.

“Despite a special G.O. issued in 2008 which states that the teachers need to be made permanent employees if they have worked for more than two years, all of these 150 teachers are still in temporary posts. The G.O. had also stated that the teachers should be brought from the consolidated pay scale under the Time pay scale which too hasn’t been implemented,” he said.

The association said that the art teachers will reiterate their demands to the School Education department and hold the protest at the DPI with their families.
