Market Now: PSU bank stocks suffer losses; PNB cracks over 2%
Bharti Airtel, Sun Pharma and Bharti Infratel were among the top losers in the Nifty pack.
NEW DELHI: Most PSU bank stocks including Punjab National Bank (down 2.41 per cent), Union Bank of India (down 2.11 per cent) and Syndicate Bank (down 1.46 per cent) were suffering losses during morning trade on Friday.

The Nifty PSU Bank was trading 0.18 per cent down at 2,816 around 10:20 am.

Shares of Canara Bank (down 0.97 per cent), Oriental Bank of Commerce (down 0.90 per cent), Allahabad Bank (down 0.87 per cent), Indian Bank (down 0.70 per cent), Andhra Bank (down 0.41 per cent) and State Bank of India (down 0.34 per cent) were also in the red.

However, shares of Bank of Baroda (up 1.37 per cent), Bank of India (up 0.40 per cent) and IDBI Bank (up 0.07 per cent) were in the green.
Equity benchmarks opened in the green, tracking firm global cues.

Buying in select metal, oil, bank, IT and financial stocks ahead of industrial production and inflation data, to be released after market hours, lift stocks higher.

The NSE Nifty50 index was up 33 points at 10,749, while the BSE Sensex was up 80 points at 35,327.

Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 31 were trading in the green, while 19 were in the red.

Asian Paints, HPCL and Indian Oil Corporation were among top Nifty gainers.

On the other hand, Bharti Airtel, Sun Pharma and Bharti Infratel were among the top losers in the Nifty pack.
