Congress will never get majority in the upcoming general election, West Bengal chief minister Mamata Banerjee said while replying to a question asked on Congress President Rahul Gandhi's comment on 'ready to become Prime Minister'. She has also given a clear indication that TMC would not align with Congress. Banerjee was speaking in a channel.

"Rahul Gandhi represents Congress. Whatever he said that reflected his party's opinion. So, I do not see anything wrong in that. But, there is a catch. Rahul Gandhi said that he would like to become PM if Congress becomes the largest party. And I feel, in this situation, Congress will never get majority," Banerjee said in an interview in a vernacular channel on Friday.

According to Banerjee, BJP's number will also reduce in this election. "The number BJP got in 2014 was their highest. They will not get that number again," said Bengal chief minister.

Responding to questions about the Federal front, Banerjee said, no party, neither BJP nor Congress-- should look down upon the regional parties. "All regional parties are the strongest forces in their respective regions. In Federal Front, there should be a collective leadership," she said.

Making her stand clear on Congress, Banerjee said, "In Bengal, Congress joined hands with BJP and conspired against us. How can Congress expect TMC to support them in their national fight?."

In this general election, regional parties are bigger factors, she added. "In Parliament, we fight collectively. But, when Congress moved the impeachment motion, we had said that this would not work. But Congress went ahead with their plan. Congress should remember that every regional party is a factor and they should be respected."

"I feel that that BJP will not do well in Uttar Pradesh if Mayawati and Akhilesh come together. I am not saying that Shivraj Chouhan is bad chief minister but Congress is likely to do well in Madhya Pradesh. Congress will win in Rajasthan. In Chattisgarh, Raman Singh has also worked well, but Congress is likely to get good numbers. In Tamil Nadu, I feel DMK will get lion share. BJP will not do well in south India," she added.
