Godavari districts top in Polycet rankings

Of the 1,29,412 candidates who took the exam, 1,03,775 have qualified

Ch. Geeta Sowmya and Kankatala Sai Sree Harsha from East Godavari and P. Sreekar Babu from West Godavari topped the Polycet 2018 scoring 120 marks each. Surya Venkata from East Godavari scored 119 marks.

Releasing the results of the AP Polytechnic Common Entrance Test (Polycet)-2018 on Thursday, HRD Minister Ganta Srinivasa Rao said of the 1,29,412 candidates who appeared for the examination held last month, 1,03,775 have qualified, registering a pass percentage of 80.19%.

While girls registered a pass percentage of 84.61%, boys registered 78.16%. This year, West Godavari district topped led the top 25 rankers list followed by East Godavari district.

In Visakhapatnam, of the 20,444 candidates who appeared for the examination, 16,706 passed.

The Minister said the number of candidates who appeared for Polycet this year increased to 1,29,412 from 1,22,960 last year.

He claimed the special awareness drive initiated by the Department of Technical Education guided the students to perform well in the examination.

He said counselling for eligible candidates would begin in the third week of May. Candidates have been advised to attend the certificate verification programme as per the schedule which will be notified to them later.

Mr. Rao said 75,971 seats available in polytechnic colleges (80 government and 208 private colleges).
