Indore: Police arrest Mumbai caller for threatening government employees


Indore: A person was arrested from Mumbai on Thursday for threatening local government employees. A mobile phone was recovered from the accused. The accused identified as 30-year-old Mangesh Jatale of Santacruz in Mumbai told police that he hails from Nanded district in Maharashtra and works as a caterer in Mumbai.

The police recovered four SIM cards from the accused. The SIM card through which the accused was making phone calls to government offices in the city was seized by the police.   The accused obtained contact numbers of government offices from advertisements in news papers and internet.

He would use abusive language and would insist that it is his right to make phone calls to government employees. He insisted that government employees should listen to what he says. He was earlier arrested by local police for creating ruckus in ministry office in Mumbai.


Additional superintendent of police (crime) Amarendra Singh said police received complaints that an unidentified person makes phone calls in government offices and the caller threatens the employees for no reason. After the complaint, a team was formed to trace the accused.

During investigation, it was found that the accused made phone calls to offices and ministry for three months. Later, the team came to know that the calls were made from Mumbai after which team was sent to Mumbai. The mobile number from which the calls were made was registered with Rajesh Kumar of Thane. Police reached the place of address but did not find Rajesh Kumar. Finally, police team arrested the accused from Vakola Flyover in Mumbai.
