Nifty Pharma extends losses for the sixth-day
Bharti Airtel, Sun Pharma, Titan, Tata Motors and Hero MotoCorp remained the top losers in the Nifty pack.
NEW DELHI: Nifty Pharma index extended the loss for the sixth consecutive session on Friday.

The index finished Friday's session 1.16 per cent down at 8,446, with Sun Pharma (down 5.33 per cent) as the top loser.

Cadila Healthcare, Lupin and Piramal Enterprises slipped 1.34 per cent, 0.42 per cent and 0.25 per cent, respectively.

Indian Pharma stocks have been reeling under selling pressure on concerns over new healthcare policies that the US President may outline soon.

As per media reports, the US President Donald Trump is likely to outline new healthcare policies, in line with his pledge of bringing down drug prices. The new healthcare policy may hit the Indian pharma companies that have access to the US markets.

Meanwhile, Aurobindo Pharma bucked the trend today, closing the day with a gain of 2.55 per cent.

Biocon (up 0.70 per cent), Divi's Laboratories (up 0.34 per cent) and Dr. Reddy's Laboratories (up 0.02 per cent) went home without losses.

The equity benchmark Sensex finished day's trading 290 points, or 0.82 per cent, up at 35,536. As many as 23 stocks settled with gains, while 8 incurred losses in the index.

The Nifty50 index closed 90 points, or 0.84 per cent, up at 10,807, with 38 stocks in the green and 12 in the red.

For the week, both Sensex and Nifty rose by 1.78 per cent.

Asian Paints, HPCL, Vedanta and BPCL remained the top gainers in the Nifty index.

Bharti Airtel, Sun Pharma, Titan, Tata Motors and Hero MotoCorp remained the top losers in the Nifty pack.
