Weather Update: More rain for central and eastern SA

The central and eastern parts of the country can expect more rain as the cold front moves closer on Saturday.

Rain

Thundershowers can be expected over the eastern parts of the Eastern Cape, the southwestern parts of KwaZulu-Natal (KZN) and the extreme southern parts of the Free State.

Isolated showers are expected over the rest of the Free State and KZN, the eastern parts of the Northern Cape, and the western parts of the North West.

The rest of the country remains dry.

Temperatures

Minimum temperatures are expected to be cool in the North West, the Free State, Gauteng, and Mpumalanga.

Moderate temperatures are predicted for Limpopo, the Northern Cape, the Western Cape and the Eastern Cape. Warm weather is predicted for KZN.

The coldest place in South Africa is expected to be Sutherland in the Northern Cape, dropping to 5°C.

Maximum temperatures are expected to be cool along the southern coastline, including the Eastern Cape, the Western Cape, the Northern Cape and the Free State.

Moderate temperatures are predicted for the North West, Gauteng and KZN.

Mpumalanga and Limpopo will experience warmer temperatures.

The hottest place in South Africa will be Skukuza in Mpumalanga, reaching a high of 34°C.

Pretoria is expected to experience a maximum of 24°C, while Johannesburg is expected to have a high of 23°C. A high of 20°C is predicted for Bloemfontein.

Along the coastal regions, Cape Town and Port Elizabeth are expected to reach 19°C, while Durban will reach 25°C.
