Iowa picked up its eighth Class of 2019 commit and second this week Friday as Clayton, Ohio, linebacker Jestin Jacobs pledged to the Hawkeyes on Twitter.

Jacobs is a 3-star recruit in the 247Sports Composite out of Northmont High School, given three stars by both 247Sports and Rivals. The 6-foot-3, 210-pound junior had offers from 22 other schools according to 247Sports, including Boston College, Cincinnati, Duke, Georgia Tech, Indiana, Iowa State, Kentucky, Michigan State, Minnesota, Missouri, Northwestern, Pittsburgh, Purdue, Rutgers and Vanderbilt.

“First I would like to thank the man above for giving me this opportunity. I would also like to thank my (dad) for helping me down this long journey along with the rest of my family, coaches, and friends. I am very appreciative to all the schools and coaches that recruited me. This has been a long process and a big dream of mine. Please respect my decision. I am proud to say that I am (100 percent) committed to the University of Iowa to further my education and football career,” Jacobs wrote on Twitter. “I am very blessed to be able to make this decision.”

Rivals ranks Jacobs 18th nationally among outside linebackers and No. 15 overall in Ohio. He’s No. 20 in Ohio in 247Sports’ rankings and ranked 32nd at his position.

Jacobs told HawkeyeReport.com he was impressed by Iowa linebackers coach Seth Wallace and defensive coordinator Phil Parker, as well as Iowa’s facilities.

Jacobs is the second linebacker verbal commit in Iowa’s Class of 2019, joining Jack Campbell of Cedar Falls. His commitment comes three days after Iowa landed Kansas City receiver Desmond Hutson.
