Free-agent running back Adrian Peterson told NFL Network on Thursday that he is healthy and "ready to roll" as he looks to sign with a new team for the 2018 season.

Peterson, who spent last season with the New Orleans Saints and Arizona Cardinals, turned 33 years old in March but told the network that he still believes he can be a "very productive" running back in the NFL.

"I'm ready," Peterson told NFL Network. "Not only that, and I say this as humble as I can, there's a lot of teams out here that have running backs that I look at, that I know that I can teach a lot and I know that I can outplay, easily.

"I'm just waiting for the opportunity to come."

Peterson was named to seven Pro Bowls between 2007 and 2015 as a member of the Minnesota Vikings, but a string of injuries have limited his effectiveness in recent years. After being traded from New Orleans to Arizona last season, he ended the year on injured reserve due to a neck injury. Peterson told NFL Network that he is now fully healthy and his neck has been cleared by three different doctors.

Peterson has been posting video clips of himself working out on social media in an attempt to prove his good health and possibly entice an NFL team into signing him. He said he's received calls from a few interested teams and would even be open to returning to New Orleans following news of Mark Ingram's suspension earlier this week.

"For whatever reason, it just didn't work out (in New Orleans), but when I got my shot in Arizona, I showed what I was able to do," Peterson told NFL Network. "I know once I get back out there, I'll be blessed with a healthy season and show people I'm still the best in the league."
