Great News is the latest comedy to get the axe in the broadcast networks' annual cancellation bloodbath.
Just one day after Fox shut the door on Brooklyn Nine-Nine (we are still holding out hope that Hulu or someone else saves it from TV show death), NBC called it quits on the Tina Fey-produced Great News.
Like Tina Fey's former NBC comedy 30 Rock, Great News wasn't making headlines because of its stellar ratings, but it was a critically beloved comedy. It's hard to say why NBC passed on another season of Great News, because it's one of the only broadcast networks not shifting back to multi-cam comedy and revivals in wake of Roseanne's mid-season success.
Yes, NBC is leaning hard into the Will & Grace revival, but it also kept single-cam comedies Superstore and The Good Place. The network's new comedies include the Amy Poehler produced I Feel Bad and another series from Parks & Rec's Mike Schur starring Natalie Morales, Abby's.
NBC will release their full fall schedule next week.
