Great News is the latest comedy to get the axe in the broadcast networks' annual cancellation blood bath.

Just one day after Fox shut the door on Brooklyn Nine-Nine (we are still holding out hope that Hulu or someone else saves it from TV show death), NBC called it quits on the Tina Fey produced Great News.

Like Tina Fey's former NBC comedy 30 Rock, Great News wasn't making headlines because of its stellar ratings, but it was a critically beloved comedy. It's hard to say why NBC passed on another season for Great News, because it's one of the only broadcast networks not shifting back to multi-cam comedy in wake of Roseanne's mid-season success.

Yes, they are leaning hard into the Will & Grace revival, but they also kept single-cam comedies Superstore and The Good Place. The network's new comedies include the Amy Poehler produced I Feel Bad and another series from Parks & Rec's Mike Schur starring Natalie Morales, Abby's.

NBC will release their full fall schedule next week.
