CEDAR RAPIDS — The Cedar Rapids RoughRiders announced Friday they have traded veteran forward T.J. Walsh to the Des Moines Buccaneers for goaltender Christian Stoever.

Walsh played two seasons for the Riders, scoring 10 goals and adding 14 assists in 79 games. He is a Boston College commit.

Stoever played in two games this past season for Des Moines, spending the majority of his time with Wilkes-Barre/Scranton of the lower-level North American Hockey League. He was named to the NAHL East All-Rookie Team.

“We’d like to welcome Christian to the RoughRiders organization,” said C.R. Coach/General Manager Mark Carlson. “He’s had a very good season in Wilkes-Barre of the NAHL and has an excellent history as a goaltender. We look forward to meeting Christian at camp May 31st.”

In other RoughRiders news, defenseman Matt Denman announced Friday on Twitter that he has committed to play college hockey at the University of Minnesota. Denman had four goals and 26 assists in 40 games for Cedar Rapids, after joining the club from the NAHL.
