Suspect suicide victim to be Romanian

With no clues as to the identity of the foreign national who allegedly jumped to death from the 11th floor of a highrise building, the Marine Drive police have turned to the Romanian Consulate for help.

The man, around 35 years old, reached Maker Chambers V at Nariman Point around 11 a.m. on Wednesday. The police said he asked several people directions to the Romanian Consulate. On being told that it was no longer located in the building, he jumped out of the window.

β€œThe deceased only had a Goa-Mumbai bus ticket in his pocket. We have written to the Romanian Consulate, requesting any information they can share with us that might help shed some light on his identity and his movements in India,” Deputy Commissioner of Police (Zone I) Manoj Kumar Sharma said.

The police might also send a team to Goa. He did not have any money and was reportedly helped by other passengers on the bus with the fare. The police he may have been robbed in Goa and wanted to seek help from the Consulate, not knowing that it shifted to Delhi four years ago.

The police have also contacted their Goa counterparts for information about any foreign nationals robbed in the State in the last few days, officers said.
