Indore: Hearing over case of  ‘Rape and murder of 4-months-old baby’ in 7 working days, judgement likely tomorrow


Indore: Expediting the infamous case pertaining to rape and murder of a four-month-old baby girl, a local court completed final hearing and arguments in just seven working days on Thursday.

Public prosecutor said that the court is likely to deliver judgement in the case on Saturday. In a chilling incident, a four-month-old baby girl was raped and brutally killed at Rajwada on April 20.  The killer later dumped her body in basement of Shrinath Palace near Rajwada.

With help from CCTV footage, police had nabbed a man identified as Navin who confessed to have sexually assaulted and murdered the baby girl. He had told police that he had a dispute with the victim’s mother so he had killed the baby to take revenge. The accused was victim’s relative. Seven days after the incident, police produced charge sheet in the case. On May 1, the court took up the case for hearing and completed the same on Thursday.


The court took only seven working days to complete hearing and arguments in the case. In all, 29 witnesses appeared before the case and recorded their statements. The statements of the witnesses were recorded till May 8-9. On May 10, the court heard arguments of both the sides and reserved its verdict in the case. The public prosecutor said that the court has listed the matter for Saturday. The verdict in the case is likely on the same day, he added. It is perhaps for the first time that verdict in a case will come in just 22 days after the incident.
