Gregory Andrew Slatniske, 79, of West Aliquippa, passed away Thursday, May 10, 2018, in Heritage Valley, Beaver. Born February 7, 1939, in Aliquippa, he was a son of the late Andrew and Vera (Frethy) Slatniske. Mr. Slatniske was a 1957 graduate of Aliquippa High School, where he was a member of the championship football team. A graduate of St. Francis College in Loretto, Pa, he received his master's degree in education, and taught middle school science at Montgomery County Maryland Public Schools, retiring with 35 years of service. He was an active member of St. George Byzantine Church in Aliquippa, where he was an altar server for many years. He is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Andrew and Cari Slatniske, and Daniel and Laurie Slatniske; two daughters and sons-in-law, Mary Elizabeth and Joe Fisher, and Amy and Gabriel Mendez; twelve grandchildren; four great- grandchildren, and his "great lady," Gladys Chabala. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, David and Richard Slatniske. Friends will be received Sunday from 1 to 5 p.m. in TATALOVICH FUNERAL HOME AND CREMATION SERVICES, INC., 2205 McMinn St., Aliquippa, www.tatalovichfuneralhome.com, where a Panahida service will be held Monday at 9:30 a.m., followed by liturgy with funeral service at 10 a.m. in St. George Byzantine Catholic Church in Aliquippa, with Father Mykhaylo Shkynda officiating. Private interment will follow in Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Steubenville, Ohio. Parastas (blessing service) will be held Sunday at 4 p.m. in the funeral home.
