Baahubali chills with Iron Man in a meme that is going viral on Chinese social media.

Avengers: Infinity War may be the greatest crossover event in history, but whoever coined that probably hasn’t seen the Chinese memes about Avengers and Baahubali. The world’s second largest movie market recently saw SS Rajamouli’s historical epic, and even though it didn’t quite set the box office on fire like Dangal had, it seems the Chinese public is just as taken with Baahubali as the rest of us. In anticipation of the release of Avengers: Infinity War - it releases in China on May 11 - users have been sharing memes that unite the two franchises on WeChat, the Chinese version of Whatsapp.

Hindustan Times’ China correspondent Sutirtho Patranobis tweeted a selection of these memes on Thursday, and by the reaction his tweets have received - one of them has been ‘liked’ 1500 times - we can imagine what it must be like on WeChat, a messaging app that has over a billion users, according to Patranobis.

In the pictures, we can see Baahubali interacting with the Avengers, particularly Captain America and Iron Man, and often in his signature pose. In one image, he admires Black Panther’s abs and in another, Devasena’s eye makeup seems to fascinate Falcon.

Baahubali also crashes the Battle of New York to fight alongside Thor and Cap, and while Hawkeye was missing from Infinity War, his absence is made up for by Baahubali wielding a bow and arrow.

Baahubali: The Conclusion has made Rs 72 crore in China so far. Infinity War, meanwhile, has broken pre-release records in China, and is expected to gross over $100 million in its opening weekend. The film has broken the record for the highest grossing Hollywood film in India with a gross of over Rs 250 crore. It’s worldwide total stands at $1.2 billion.
