VERONA - Authorities in Staunton and Augusta County are looking for a suspect believed to be involved in a pair of car wash break-ins that took place Saturday.

In Staunton, the Blue Ridge Auto Spa in the 600 block of Richmond Avenue had about $300 in quarters stolen, Staunton police said. The thefts took place after the office at the business was burglarized and keys were stolen, allowing access to the car wash's coin slots.

In Fishersville, the Augusta County Sheriff's Office said the Hornet Car Wash on Wilson Lane was also victimized. According to a press release, the business was forcefully entered and a machine was tampered with. No money was reported missing.

Video surveillance showed a burgundy Chevrolet Tahoe with Tennessee license plates at the time of the burglary, the press release said. The vehicle also had a large “Punisher” sticker attached to the rear window.

Authorities believe the two car wash break-ins are connected. A woman might have been involved as well, the sheriff's office said.

Anyone with information about the break-ins is asked to call the Augusta County Sheriff's Office at 245-5333 or the Staunton Police Department at 332-3842.
