Their talents launched them to record-setting performances on the court, field, in the gym, on bowling lanes, on the track and in swimming pools. Their talents helped their teams win county, district, regional and state titles. The athletes representing high schools throughout Southwest Florida deserve to be honored - and they are.
The News-Press, Naples Daily News and USA TODAY NETWORK are joining to honor the best of the best at the Southwest Florida Sports Awards event from 6-9 p.m. Wednesday, May 23 at Barbara B. Mann Performing Arts Hall. We embrace the accomplishments of all the boys and girls who stood out in their respective sports and we encourage the community to come share in the celebration. More than 160 athletes and coaches involved in 26 sports will be spotlighted from high schools throughout Lee and Collier counties, as well as LaBelle High School.
These athletes have also starred outside the sports arena, excelling in the classroom and in their communities.
Those in attendance will also hear from another sports legend, former Major League Baseball star and current TV analyst John Kruk, who is the featured speaker.
These athletes have built incredible resumes already and we look forward to their accomplishments during the next phases of their lives.
