Odisha tops in RIDF performance

Odisha has topped the list of Rural Infrastructure Development Fund (RIDF) performance in 2017-18.

This was revealed at a meeting held under chairmanship of Additional Chief Secretary and Development Commissioner R Balakrishnan at the State Secretariat on Wednesday. Nabard CGM Dr Krushna Chandra Panigrahi outlined the issues for discussion. As many 14,346 RIDF projects worth Rs  10,328 crore were recommended for 2018-19.

Balakrishnan directed various departments to make claims to the Nabard against the ongoing projects. He further directed to expedite submission of the DPRs of the spillover and newly sanctioned projects.

During the year 2017-18, a total of 14,455 projects estimated around Rs  5,514 crore were recommended and, of them, 2,351 projects worth Rs  2,539 crore were sanctioned. Against sanctioned amount of Rs 2,539 crore, different departments utilised around Rs  3872 crore during 2017-18.

The Nabard has disbursed around Rs  2,512 crore to State Government from RIDF against the claims made by various departments in 2017-18, which is highest among all the States. Odisha is followed by Gujarat with disbursement of Rs   2062.91 crore and Rajasthan with Rs  1851.39 crore.

Nabard Deputy CGM Narayan Chandra Pani, GA Secretary Ashok Kumar Meena, Water Resources Secretary Pardeep Kumar Jena, Agriculture Secretary Sourav Garg, Commerce and Transport Secretary G Srinivas and F and ARD Secretary Vishal Gagan were present.
