SYCAMORE – In honor of the 135 law enforcement officers who lost their lives in the line of duty in 2017, the DeKalb County Law Enforcement Officer's Memorial Service will be held at 4:30 p.m. Tuesday.
The service will be held in the front lawn of the DeKalb County Courthouse, 133 W. State St.
Of the 135 lives lost in 2017, six of them came from the state of Illinois.
"Law enforcement is a difficult and dangerous profession that all too often requires the ultimate sacrifice of our officers to protect the community that they serve and in which we live in," a news release from the Sycamore Police Department reads. "Please join us in remembering those officers who gave their lives in service of us all."
