CM to CII: Work towards doubling farmers’ income

Take up skill development programmes for the youth of Jharkhand and try and devise ways to double farmers’ income, Chief Minister Raghubar Dastold a CII delegation during an interaction held here on Wednesday.

The CM advised CII to conduct farmers’ training, promote and popularize organise farming and create market linkages for them to realise the vision of the Government.

“During the interaction with the CM, we offered our help to the Jharkhand Government in conducting farmers’ training in the methods of raising yield. We would be happy to be a close partner of the Government’s vision to transform the lives of a vast multitude of people,” said  Killol Kamani, Chairman of CII Jharkhand State Council, who led the CII delegation.

“We would also support the farmers in establishing stronger market linkages. All this will go a long in realizing the Government’s vision to see that farmer’s income is doubled by 2022. We are extremely happy that the CM has reposed faith in CII,” said Kamani.

The CII team, which also included Neeraj Kant, Vice Chairman, CII Jharkhand State Council, and Nita Karmakar, Regional Director, CII East and North East, also proposed to do a skill-gap study in Ghamaria and Adityapur. “This will be followed by a focused and sustained exercise to generate more jobs across sectors,” Kamani said, adding that CII with partners runs CII-PARFI Skill Gurukuls in Gumla, Jamshedpur, Bundu Chaibasa, Simdega, Koderma, Deoghar, to name a few.

Kant, said, “Under a World Bank-supported project called Tejaswini, the State’s Department of Women & Child Development aims to facilitate employment of young and vulnerable women by assisting them in creating livelihood opportunities. CII has been assigned to prepare a district-level market assessment study to identify self-employment opportunities and also the skill sets needed for the youth aged 16-24 years in all the 24 districts in the State.”

“We would like to take this opportunity to appreciate the initiatives taken by the Government of Jharkhand for the overall growth and development of industry in the state,” Kant said.
