If Kade McClure keeps up this pace, a promotion could soon be in order.

The Mentor graduate had another solid performance in his last start on May 7 for the Single-A Kannapolis Intimidators.

The former University of Louisville pitcher and 2017 draft pick of the White Sox was lights out against Hagerstown. He finished his outing with seven innings and no earned runs. He allowed five hits, walked one and struck out nine. The nine strikeouts tied his career high, set earlier this season. McClure threw 85 pitches — 65 strikes and 20 balls.

Despite the impressive outing, it was a tough-luck outing for McClure and the Intimidators, 2-0 losers to Hagerstown on May 7. The two runs that went against McClure were unearned.

It was his first loss of the season, as McClure’s record dropped to 3-1, but so did his ERA, which is now an impressive 2.36 in seven starts.

For the season, McClure has 42 strikeouts in 41 innings pitched with 39 hits allowed and 14 walks. His WHIP is 1.29 and opponents are hitting .250 off him.
