VMC slaps notices for water wastage

Vadodara: Vadodara Municipal Corporation (VMC) cracked down upon wastage of water in the city in an attempt to promote water conservation. The civic body slapped notices to 113 people in the city on Thursday and slapped fines on them.
The VMC took up the drive under Sujalam Sufalam water conservation programme. The notices are issued both to commercial as well as residential properties where VMC officials find wastage of water.

VMC officials said the process had been started soon after the water conservation programme was launched by the state government. But this is the largest number of notices issued on a single day so far. A fine of Rs13,300 was collected by the civic body on the day as a part of the drive that will continue in the coming days.
